TO MATTER
This brand-new quality neighbourhood is set to come a proud benchmark. The seven residential collections that will be created on our 4.7-hectare site create a central park providing strong cultural connections. With thoughtful architecture and what will become a thriving community hub: the new Flaxmere Village on your doorstep, Te Rito offers an excellent lifestyle with attainable pricing.
Collection 1, Te Awhi Rito is our first to be released (May 2026). Work on Collection 2 started in June 2026. Collection 3 will be launching in July 2026. The remaining collections will be released in the coming years via various project partners.

The emerging community heart for Te Rito is Tuivaiti Reserve.
Plans are underway for native planting, wai (waterway) connections and Pou whenua to be carved by Frank Wainohu.
The pou include ancestral boundary markers and events associated with the Ngaruroro River, historic river branches such as Mangarua that once flowed through the area, traditional plant resources including houi (lacebark) and harakeke used for weaving, the pā harakeke model of whānau and community structure, and the birdlife and ecological systems that historically occupied the braided river margins.
Together the pou establish a cultural reading of the landscape and provide a narrative anchor for the reserve as the community heart of Te Rito.
Our seven collections have been named within the pā harakeke (flax bush) model. From the protected centre outwards, each collection reflects a different role within a living system grounded in relationships, protection and intergenerational growth.

LOCAL LEGENDS
With the values of community, growth and protection reflected in our name, we are thrilled that Hastings District Council named our four new roads within the site in honour of some well-known Flaxmere heroes, nominated by the community for their significant lifetime contributions to Flaxmere (and beyond):
-
Tuivaiti Street, named after Pasifika community leader Tuivaiti Fetaiaimauso Tuivaiti.
-
Ratima Avenue, named after Des Ratima, a staunch advocate for the Flaxmere.
-
Poulain Way, named after Jacob Poulain: a fierce supporter and defender of Flaxmere, since 1976.
-
Kibblewhite Road, named after Ken Kibblewhite: one of Flaxmere’s first residents, whose passion and advocacy for the suburb was legendary.
