PREMIUM  SPACES

The beautiful 17-hectare Flaxmere Park holds its own globally. Consistent upgrades and additions ensure it's internally awarded Green Flag. It has also been named Aotearoa’s Most Active Park by Recreation Aotearoa in both 2020 and 2023, and Aotearoa’s most outstanding park in 2023.

It's all just a quick walk from Te Rito too.

Flaxmere Park Basketball court

A multi-colour pro-ball basketball court has been installed through Basketball NZ Hoops in Parks Programme.

The premium fenced playground in Flaxmere Park boasts swings, climbing frames, slides, a gyroscope and splash pad as well as picnic tables and a free-to-use community barbecue.

Te Pae Whīra o Pā Harakeke Flaxmere Skate Park, is spread over almost 1400m2 and features more than 20 skate elements loved by all ages and abilities. The Skate Plaza was recognised in 2023 as Winner of the Recreation Aotearoa Outstanding Recreation Facility category. The cultural design for Te Pae Whīra was completed by mana whenua artists from the Iwi Toi Kahungunu Artists Collective, beautifully reflected in the design of the surfaces and structures of Te Pae Whīra, while the landscaping pays homage to harakeke

MOST ACTIVE PARK

A five-kilometre asphalt track is permanently popular, with adult exercise equipment placed alongside, but it’s especially busy on Saturday mornings for Flaxmere Park Run: clocking over 21,000 finishers so far!

Sports fields are marked for football in the winter and cricket in the summer, as well as a traditional ki-o-rahi field.

A nine-hole disc golf course offers a fun and beginner-friendly course, with plenty of challenges on the back nine for more experienced players too

GREAT SCHOOLS

The Ministry of Education spent $47m rebuilding both Te Kura o Kimi Ora and Flaxmere College between 2001 - 2005, with much needed upgrades to both classrooms and school halls. The location map shows the many Kōhanga Reo/Pre-school and Schooling options from year 1 - 13+) for Flaxmere.

A NEW VILLAGE CENTRE

Architectural Render of future Flaxmere Village

TW Property’s town centre redevelopment will soon welcome a brand-new Woolworths Supermarket before working towards a fully re-developed Village Shopping Centre.

In April 2026, Hastings District Council endorsed TW Property's master-plan which includes a new road connection through the town centre, linking Henderson Road to Pam O’Keefe Avenue, along with improved public spaces, new shops and a more connected and vibrant town centre. It aligns with long-standing Flaxmere community plans and incorporates cultural design elements, including Te Aranga principles and the Pāharakeke narrative.

All this just a few minutes’ walk from Te Rito.
